Speaker/s:
Malcolm McNeil gave a very informative talk about Recycling
2.59 tonnes of rubbish are generated per person per year in Australia.
The aim should be Zero waste to landfill.
The efforts taken by our club to encourage recycling are impressive. We have recycled over 50kg of batteries, 100,000 blister packs along with tea bag tags and bread tags.
Jake Wadsworth, gave an overview of some of the Enviro Club’s planned projects
Hastings Enviro
Hastings Microforest project
This project aims to create ‘microforests’ in the local area. What is a Microforest? Imagine a tiny, but multi-layered forest that contains all the range of tress and shrubs that “captures carbon, breaks down decomposing organic material to return nutrients into the soil, and creates habitat for wildlife — just on a smaller scale” (Tucker Bush). The size can be as small as a front verge to as large as a tennis court.
By building a Microforest, we hope to help people connect more with nature and inspire an understanding of how even they can help improve the local climate, biodiversity and even communities. We hope to connect deeply with a range of groups from the local communities, including teachers and schoolchildren through participating and linking with their studies, private landowners, property developers and Councils and demonstrate how quickly a Microforest can make a difference.

Please bring your own tea or coffee and a plate as there is no power available where we are meeting.
Sunflowers for Ukraine
Remember to plant your seeds, tender with loving care.
President Di has challenged us all to
• grow the tallest sunflower plant &
• produce a magnificent flower
So nurture your seeds with water, warmth, sunlight and love and in late December/early January (8-10 weeks) we will ask for a photo of you and your sunflower plant to be emailed into international@sunrise-rotary.org.au
