Our Soggy Hat Day

Glowing Neon Arrow

Anne is wearing a tiny hat!t

The weather gods were against us with the heavens

opening on McInherney Park, making the track unfit

for racing. In a revised and modified event, the prized

and elusive Sunrise Cup was won by our super searcher, Zoe Brice!

Our best female hat winner, and winner of the $250 Akubra voucher,

October Board Report

The following is a summary of the major outcomes from the Sunrise Board meeting held on Wednesday 19 October 2022. If any member wishes to obtain further information about any matter listed then please contact President Neil Black.

* Allison Massey, Public Relations Director agreed to submit an application for a $500 District Membership Support Grant. These grant funds are being made available by our District for clubs to apply for to support membership growth initiatives. The focus of the Sunrise application will be to seek funding to support the production of a Sunrise Rotary information pamphlet as well as help fund a ‘cocktail event’ to which it is proposed existing members will be able to invite a guest to be introduced to our Club.

* In past years, member Rod Smith has generously undertaken the official audit of

Sunrise Rotary’s annual financial statements free of charge. However with a recent change of employment it is no longer possible for Rod to undertake the actual audit. Rod has kindly reviewed the financial statements prepared by John Drinan, 2021-2022 Treasurer though and obtained quotes for the audit to be undertaken by a qualified auditor. The Board agreed to accept the lowest quote of $1,375.

* The Board approved the proposal by Ian Simpson, Rotary Foundation Director for the next Polio Movie Event to be held on Wednesday 2 February 2023. The movie will be The Lost King.

* Sandra Hollins, Youth Service Director submitted the following draft resolution to the meeting on behalf of the Youth Service Committee - That the Rotary Club of Port Macquarie Sunrise approve the establishment of an EarlyAct Club at St Columba School. Board members unanimously passed the resolution.

Note: EarlyAct is a service club for primary school students from ages 5 to 13 which is sponsored by a Rotary Club and has ideals closely aligned to Rotary ideals. It is similar in purpose to an Interact Club which is for young people from 12 to 18 years of age. St Columba has an Interact Club that we sponsor.

* Board members discussed progress in relation to meeting the Club’s Primary Goals for 2022-2023 and agreed that after three months we are making sound progress on each of the four Goals.

On Saturday, 15th October the GO RED for Dyslexia 2022 campaign was launched at Charles Sturt University.

Thanks to our members who supported with catering and barbecuing.
