Thanks to Katy-Lee Waldron, Rose Willis and David Gearing for the superb presentation of our meeting venue!

Directors' Reports: 1) The Sunrise Campus Markets banner has been officially launched! The markets will be held the first Sunday of every month from 8am to 12:30pm at Charles Sturt University, commencing February 5.

Aims:

Service the community through access to quality local goods and services
Regular fundraising opportunities, which will strengthen our community outreach
Creation of a campus vibrancy
Creation of opportunities for a free stall per month for student group opportunities.

Col will be looking for people to assist with marking out the site on Friday 6/1/23 from 9.00 am. If you have: Hammer Drill, 5mm masonry bit, Hammer & tape measure it would be of assistance.

2) An intimate cocktail event will be held in February and is open to members bringing any potential new member! Stay tuned for more details.

3) The initial meeting for the proposed satellite club will be held at the C.S.U. on 19th February.

4) Sandra Haynes would like to pass on her thanks to those who have provided meals to assist. A few biscuits would also be welcome in addition to prepared meals.

5) Ian Simpson is thrilled with the members' response to the Tutu desk initiative. He had hoped to get one per member but with 80+ sold, he's hoping we can hit the ton!

6) The "cluster" BBQ will be held on Tuesday 17th January.

Malcolm McNeil recently presented the Rotary Lodge Committee

with a certificate of appreciation for hosting MHERV representatives during their recent successful visit. The certificate will be on display at Rotary Lodge.

Sunrise Polio Charity Movie 2023

This year’s charity movie for Polio is The Lost King, the true

story of the discovery by an amateur historian of the

remains of Richard III after 500 years … in a Leicester carpark.

It’s the story of a woman who refused to be ignored and

who took on the country's most eminent historians,

forcing them to think again about one of the most

controversial kings in England's history.

Critics describe it as “incredible and inspiring, a true example of perseverance and not taking no for an answer”.

When: Wednesday, 1st February 2023

Where: Majestic Cinema No 2

What time: From 5.30pm pre-movie snack BYO own drinks or purchase at Cinema

..............and speaking of Santa and look-alikes, did anyone notice who was missing from Friday's meeting? Yes, there was no Santa!!!??? There was no Tony Lanzafame either! He was stricken with Covid! Was Santa similarly stricken?

Do you think it strange we've never seen Santa and Tony in the same room? Do we have the Sunrise version of Clark Kent and Superman? Spooky times!

2023 Calendar Update

willingness and inclination of avenue members and directors to interrupt their holidays!
